Ever since I ventured onto a long distance trail the thought has been hovering in my head that one day I would like to devise my own multi stage footpath. As I put together my Novices Guide to Trail Walking (include link) the idea of creating my own trail was never too far away. I think it stems from planning and setting out on Wainwrights’ Coast to Coast Walk and just wondering how it must feel to have your name against one of the best known walks in the country. Not that I imagine for one minute that 41 Yorkshire Rivers will ever achieve a tiny fraction of the popularity that the Coast to Coast has but it would be nice to think that people will one day walk and enjoy some or all of the trail.
